Did you know that the #1 way to drive engagement online is through video?

Since 2017, various stats from studies such as Hubspot Content Trends Survey have shown that people consume more video than any other media when it comes to news articles, multi-media articles and social media.

Video content is one of the best ways to attract more of your dream customers and clients which could boost the number of leads by 66% annually. This means, that the majority want to watch more videos, which is why video marketing should be included in your marketing strategy.

Whilst social media continues to be on the rise, so is video marketing!

But here’s the problem… Most entrepreneurs don’t like showing up on video and find video marketing a little intimidating (especially for those who haven’t done it before).

I’m going to share all the different ways you can use video as part of your online video marketing strategy.

Let’s bust some myths about video marketing

Before we get straight into the strategy, let’s first address some common myths around video marketing as some entrepreneurs have this false belief that video is expensive.

Yes, video production can get expensive if you want to go ‘all out’ (like anything in life). But here’s the thing, you don’t need to get all ‘Hollywood’ with your videos because your audience wants the real YOU. They don’t want all the glitz and glamour. They don’t want the scripts. And they don’t want the over-produced video edits with special effects.

They just want the raw you to show up as YOU! The true, authentic you without all the ‘lights, camera, action’ hoo-ha. And what does this tell us? You just need to keep it super simple! So that means no fancy camera, lights, no sound equipment, no teleprompter, no editing software – nada! You just need a smart phone to start with some sunlight! And since a smart phone is all you need to create high-quality videos, it’s very straight forward!

Alternatively, you can just use the camera that’s already built in your desktop computer or laptop and/or tablet.

Here are 11 ways to use video to engage more with your soulmate clients

Instructional Videos

‘How-to’ and tutorial videos are one of the fastest ways to increase your authority in your industry.

Whether you’re showing people how to use a certain product or breaking down how your solution works; by showing up and teaching on video automatically positions you as an expert. This is also a great way for your audience to get to know you – from your style to your personality. If they’re your ideal audience, chances are they will love your quirks. Over time, this will help them get to ‘know, like, and trust’ you.

If you’ve just created a new product or service that no one has heard of, a tutorial can be a great way to build brand awareness that can eventually lead to sales if you focus on the benefits (rather than the features).

Remember, your audience wants to know what problem your service or product solves for them. So, during your tutorial, you’ll need to tell them how your service or product will help change their lives.

As you may already know, people love a good ol’ fashion ‘show and tell’ right? And when you use video, you’re able to ‘show’ just as much as ‘tell’ them. Yes, that means presentation slides, charts, diagrams, product showcase, videos within your video, memes, gifs etc. Just think about all the different ways you can serve your audience and bring more value. You can also do tutorials that have nothing to do with your product/service or business for that matter. Maybe you can share your experience about another tool you recently used or a product or service that saved you time, money, energy or effort.

When teaching, always ask your audience what they want to learn about? Or think about what might they want to learn about that will improve their lives.

Hacks or Quick Tips

Everyone loves a good hack or a quick tip that’s going to make their lives easier. In the busy world we live in, people are especially looking for hacks to help them save time, as well as save money and energy.

Can you relate?

When coming up with your video content, think about the things you recently did or used where you got a great result, and yet required minimum effort, less time or saved you money. This can be anything from: 5 key ingredients to make a quick and healthy meal that your kids will love; to a cheap cleaning hack that helps mum-preneurs clean their kids toys; to 3 tips to help solo-preneurs find a powerful software tool that helps them manage their entire business in less time without the tech headaches.

Comparisons (x vs y)

You can easily share your opinion about a product, a service, software, experience or anything else to help educate your audience before they make a purchasing decision in their lives or business.

From fun and entertaining videos about style comparisons such as “which celebrity wore it best” to more serious, business-related topics such as comparing which learning management system to use for your course eg. Kajabi vs Kartra.

Reviews on hot trends that your industry is talking about

Giving your personal opinion on certain products and services is always fun because you can just give your honest feedback about the pros and cons. By giving your honest reviews is another great way of showing up as an authority as you may touch on hot topics and new trends.

Depending on your industry, you can review everything and anything that makes sense for your audience.

If you’re reviewing a product that you have been paid to review (like an influencer or affiliate marketer), remember to be open and honest about this product collaboration or paid partnership. If you’re a customer and giving your personal feedback without any affiliate, it’s always nice to mention this so that your audience sees how transparent you are.

Recommend Books or Articles

There’s so much valuable content and gold nuggets out there in the world. This means you don’t always have to reinvent the wheel. Instead, you can just point your audience in the right direction. You can recommend your favourite books or you can put your spin on a recent article you found interesting.

You can use this type of video content to even start a conversation with your audience. Eg. “in the comments let me know your views?”

What you Stand for

In whatever industry you’re in, you stand for something, or you’re opposed to something. It’s your point of view that makes you different. So, share your perspective on things!

This is your opportunity to open up about various aspects of your life and business and share your values and what you stand for. Or you can flip it! You can talk about why you strongly disagree with something within your industry. Your ‘WHY’ is a big part of your brand and positioning in your industry. This allows your audience to gravitate more towards you, and helps you separate from your competitors.

It’s how you stand out in a crowded and over-saturated industry.

Proven Tactics that work

When you start reporting back to your audience about proven tactics that worked for you or your clients, it is a great way to celebrate the big results. Everyone loves seeing a transformation and when people see the actual and tangible results – they pay attention.

This is your opportunity to talk about your proven tactics or secret sauce that is changing lives.

This could include your:

  • methodology
  • framework
  • formula
  • system
  • signature process.

Again, this is another great way of showing your potential soulmate clients why you’re the expert and why they should work with you or buy from you. As they say, the proof is in the pudding!

Q + As

Q + A style videos is a great way to invite a special guest to interview which takes a lot of pressure off of you.

Having actual conversations with people is not only fun and shows your viewers another side to your personality; but it can be fun and entertaining to watch (and listen to). Based on your business and industry, you get to choose who you want to interview. It can be anyone from your spouse or mother to someone within your industry that you admire or want to align with.

Another Q + A style is by simply asking your audience some questions ahead of time and answering each question in your video where you provide your insights. This is also a great way for you to connect and engage with your audience.

Bust Some Myths

I personally love busting some myths when it comes to entrepreneurship, branding and digital marketing. There are so many so-called gurus out there giving bad advice or inaccurate information that lead people astray.

So, if there’s a common belief that your audience is believing to be true that you believe to be false; then talk about it and back it up with facts. By talking about it brings them so much awareness and then they get to decide whether they change their beliefs (or not).

This also gives your audience the added knowledge (thanks to you) that they may bring up in conversation with another person. This means that your content resonates with them and that you’re fresh on their minds. And once they trust you and they see you as a good source of information, then they start looking out for more of your content in future.

Behind the Scenes

Let’s face it, we all love a sneak peek behind the scenes. That’s why we love a good reality tv show or the behind-the-scenes footage of our favourite movies. I think the reason being is that the behind the scenes shows real life and people in general relate to ‘real life’. From real people to real problems with a mix of funny blooper moments – it gives us a glimpse behind the making of something. This allows the audience to feel as if they’re a part of the transformation that is taking place before seeing the end result.

Next time you’re thinking about what content to record on video, why not give your audience a sneak peek of the making of your product or service. I’m sure your audience would love to know what goes on behind the curtain of your life and see you in action as you create your success.

User-generated content

Why do all the work? There is nothing better than satisfied clients and customers raving about your services and products. That’s why it’s a no-brainer to let your raving fans create videos which is referred as UGC. It brings so much value with no drawbacks. And the best part is that they are authentic since they’re your actual customers or clients.

Positive reviews, feedback and testimonials create social proof as your potential customers or clients watch real people rave about you. And here’s the bonus… Some people get such a kick out of seeing themselves on your channels that they share your video on their own pages.

And who doesn’t love free publicity!

It’s Go Time!

Now that you have a few more ideas, it’s GO TIME!

Whether you want to go live on Facebook, create a YouTube channel or take full advantage of Instagram’s IGTV, or even Reels and Tik Tok’s; now you know how to include video marketing into your marketing strategy to maximise your sales potential.

And if you’re teaching in your videos, just remember these 5 tips:

  1. Hook your viewers by getting straight to the point within the first 5 seconds.
  2. Tell people why they should watch your video (what’s in it for them?).
  3. Check that your video’s length is suitable for the social media platform you use.
  4. Keep the video content super simple.
  5. Have fun so that you show your personality.
