No doubt you’ve seen infographic and blog articles floating around telling you the best times to post on each social media platform. So, is the timing of your social media posts important?

Well, we’re going to go out on a limb and say…. Nope.

Most of the blog articles about timing are actually times in the US, so not helpful to those in Australia.

But not only that, we’ve tried posting at various times throughout the day ourselves and seeing where we get the best results. Quite honestly, we’ve seen absolutely no pattern emerging when it comes to posting.

We usually post between 7am – 7.30am.  We get great results. We’ve also posted around 4.30pm – 5pm and have also had great results. And again, posting at 7pm. Great results.  On the flip side, we’ve also posted at those times and had absolutely woeful results.

Our Inspector Gadget powers tell us that it’s not what time you post, but what you post.  If your content is kick-ass, then the post is going to do well, regardless of the time (although, posting at 1am probably isn’t going to do you any favours, but you may get heaps of US or European likes!).  If your content is, how shall we say this… meh, then yeah, don’t expect the earth to move with heaps of engagement.

But hey, don’t take our word for it!  Try it yourself!  Post two similar types of posts at different times and see what reaction you get.
